Women In Technology Scholarship Fund

The Denver Biz Tech Expo young Women in Technology Scholarship Fund was created in 2013 in partnership with Platte River Networks to assist and motivate Denver Public High School Seniors to pursue  degrees in technology.

The technology industry in the United States is growing rapidly and the disparity of men to women working in the field is getting wider. A great need exists for more educated and certified professional women in this field. We welcome all applicants pursuing any degree related to technology which can include business, marketing, sales, engineering, design, graphic art, etc.; it’s does not need to be solely focused on Information Technology, Computer Science, or Computer Engineering to be considered for this award.

In 2018, the Denver Biz Tech Expo and Platte River Networks partnered with the Denver Scholarship Foundation and the Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce for the benefit of the Women in Technology Scholarship fund.  The new alliance between these four Colorado organizations will help grow and strengthen the WIT Scholarship fund.  To date, the new alliance has generated over $11,000 from a fund raising effort with Ingram Micro’s Trust X Alliance, the largest annual raise in the 5 year WIT history.

The Denver Scholarship Foundation inspires and empowers Denver Public Schools’ students to enroll in and graduate from postsecondary institutions of higher education, by providing the tools, knowledge, and financial resources essential for success.

The Denver Scholarship Foundation makes college possible for thousands of Denver Public Schools graduates each year. For many students in Denver, continuing their education beyond high school doesn’t seem like a viable option.

Most often, it’s not low grades or lack of extracurricular activities keeping them from pursuing their dreams. There are thousands of intelligent, hard-working individuals facing the most intimidating barrier to college of all – they think it just isn’t possible. But the Denver Scholarship Foundation is changing that. We’re making a postsecondary degree possible for Denver’s students.

The Colorado Women’s Chamber of Commerce provides opportunities and visibility for women in business through relationship development, education, mentorship, partnership and alliances. They create an environment and provide resources to their members’ business success.
